Northwood varsity softball team defeats Carrboro 24-0 to clinch conference title

Pittsboro, NC - The Northwood High School varsity softball team defeated Carrboro 24-0 Thursday night to clinch the Mid State 2A Conference title for the second consecutive year. The Lady Chargers will play at home Monday evening in the first round of the Mid State Conference Tournament at a time to be determined. It will most likely be 7pm Monday night. A win Monday would advance the Lady Chargers to the Conference Tournament semi-finals at Graham later next week.

Lauren Martin got the win on the mound for the Lady Chargers last night. Sabrina Bonomolo led the Lady Chargers at the plate as she had a double, home run, two runs, and two RBIs. Crystal Overcash also had two hits, a single and a double, scored two runs, and had three RBIs. Kerri Snipes had a single, scored two runs, and had five RBIs for the Lady Chargers. Lauren Glosson added a single and double as well and drove in two runs on the evening.

Sierra Timmons, promoted from the JV Softball team last week, had two singles and scored three runs off the bench. Padgett Harrington added a double and three RBIs. Lauren Martin added a double, three runs, and three RBIs to go along with the win on the mound. Kaitlyn Briggs drew three walks while Lauren Oldham, Desi Medina, and Amanda Dickens drew two walks a piece.

Medina scored three runs while Oldham and Dickens scored two runs on the night. Oldham also had two RBIs. Keeley Skinner and Carrie Webster also scored a run on the night.

Congratulations to Coach Skinner, Coach Sculli, Coach Edinfield and the Lady Chargers on their back to back conference titles!
