Northwood varsity softball defeats NCSSM, 13-2

Pittsboro, NC - The Lady Chargers varsity softball team defeated the North Carolina School of Science and Math in five innings due to the mercy rule Tuesday night 13-2. Lauren Martin was the winning pitcher as she pitched four strong innings before Carrie Webster closed the game out with two strike outs en route to three up and three down in the top of the fifth.

Carrie Webster also led the Lady Chargers at the plate as she went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a single, and scored two runs. Padgett Harrington, Kaitlyn Briggs, and Christa Surles also collected two hits on the night. Lauren Oldham collected one hit and tied for the team lead with three runs scored along with Christa Surles. Keeley Skinner had one hit and scored a run, while Desiree Medina collected the other Lady Charger hit on the evening.

The Lady Chargers game with North Moore on Wednesday night was rained out. The Lady Charger Softball Classic is next weekend on Saturday April 4 at Northwood High School.
