Chapel Hill, NC - Monte Smith ran for over 150 yards and first half touchdowns of 50 and 28 yards along with the two point conversion run following the second touchdown as the JV Charger football team built a 14-0 halftime lead en route to a 22-0 shut out of 3A Chapel Hill High School at Chapel Hill High Thursday night.

Alex Powell added a 3 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter with Jordan Blackmon cashing in the 2 point conversion run to close out the 22-0 shut out of the Tigers. On the closing drive, Smith added back to back 25 yard runs to put the Chargers deep in Tiger territory, adding to his other big runs of 50 and 28 yards for touchdowns earlier in the night.

Jeremiah Jacobs intercepted a pass at the end of the first half to halt a Tiger scoring opportunity, which followed a Charger defensive stand on the series before as the Tigers moved inside the Charger 10 before being stopped on 4th down inside the Chargers' 5 yard line. Aumad Walker also pulled in an interception for the Charger defense on the last Tiger drive of the night.

The Chargers improved to 2-1 on the season and will host a strong 2A Providence Grove team from Randolph County next Thursday night at Northwood High School.
