North Lenoir rolls to easy vistory over Forbush in 2-A opener

Greensboro, NC - Defending champion North Lenoir took command early and rolled past East Bend Forbush 13-1 on Friday in the first game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A baseball championship series at First Horizon Park.

North Lenoir exploded for six runs in the first and never looked back. Sthil Sowers go the win on the mound for the Hawks, running his record to 12-0 on the season, while Taylor Chaplin got the loss.

Andrew Manning and Tyler Smith each had a pair of hits for North Lenoir, which added five runs in the third and won when the game was called due to the 10-run rule.

North is now 29-2 and have won 18 of their last 19 games, while Forbush slipped to 27-5 overall. Game two of the best-of-three series is scheduled at First Horizon Park for 11 a.m. on Saturday afternoon. If Forbush wins to tie the series, a third and decisive game would be played at 5 p.m.
