Chapel Hill, NC - A full day of events and activities have been planned by the University of North Carolina athletic department surrounding the Tar Heels' Spring Football event on Saturday, April 9. Admission to Kenan Stadium is free and a controlled scrimmage will begin at 3 p.m. Gates 2, 3 and 6 will open at noon.

"Our spring football event is a great opportunity for our fans watch how we practice and scrimmage, get a sneak peek at the younger players who will be making an impact on this year's team, observe the progress made on the Blue Zone, and enjoy a spring day in Chapel Hill," said head coach Butch Davis. "We were planning to play a complete game as we did last year, however depth chart challenges due to a variety of factors, including several players recovering from injuries and a large graduating class of last year's seniors, will prevent us from doing so. In addition to the football scrimmage, we have planned several fun activities for the fans, including an autograph session, which our players always enjoy."

Tar Heel Town will open at noon with events scheduled for the Bell Tower quad and Kenan Stadium. The General Alumni Association will host the popular Bell Tower climb. A Kids Zone will be set up in the Bell Tower area with bounce houses, inflatables and other fan-friendly activities. A cheerleading clinic also will be held on the field at 1 pm.

A junior-senior tailgate party for Carolina students will be held on campus in The Pit from noon to 2:30 pm and will include food, music and activities sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and Carolina Dining Services. The student tailgate is a celebration of the highly successful UNC student-led "Build a Block" project, which is currently building 10 Habitat for Humanity houses for University and UNC Hospital employee families in the 10 months of the 2010-11 academic school year. The Carolina football team will build houses for Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, April 16.

Fans will have an opportunity to obtain autographs from the Carolina players and head coach Butch Davis beginning at 1 p.m. on the field. Schedule posters will be given away to the first 3,000 fans at Kenan Stadium.
