Chatham County, NC - In August 2005, my husband and I adopted a dog that was in a foster home with Best Buddies Companion Rescue and Adoption. The dog is a delight and we feel very fortunate that she was rescued from a shelter by BBCRA, given extensive medical care, love and affection so that she was ready for a good home.

The circumstances that have had BBCRA on the front page of chathamjournal recently are sad for all concerned, and I am sad, too because I can attest to is the dedication of the good people associated with BBCRA.

I hope that your readers who are not familiar with BBCRA will go to its website,, and look at the evidence of the good, compassionate work that the people associated with it do. Many of us love animals and love our pets. Very few of us will make the sacrifices that these folks do to improve life for people and critters in Chatham County and beyond.

I encourage anyone thinking about adding a dog to his or her family to contact BBCRA or one of the other rescue organizations in our area.
