[Sep. 30, 2004] Almost 1,000 bicyclists are ready to embark on a 465-mile trek across the state this Saturday, October 2nd, when Cycle North Carolina kicks off its sixth annual ride. Cycle North Carolina will transform eight towns into a cycling extravaganza for riders from a 37 states, Germany and Canada. The state’s only full-service, recreational bicycle tour travels from the "Mountains to the Coast."

[Aug. 27, 2004] With registration for the sixth annual Cycle North Carolina filling up fast, time is running out to make plans to participate in this year’s ride. The 2004 ride will take riders on a back-roads tour of North Carolina, starting in Sparta and ending in Oriental. Cycle North Carolina, which takes place October 2-9, boasts one of its most spectacular seven-day bicycle routes yet.

Heavy rains that persisted throughout the Labor Day weekend of 2002 broke the dry period.
