Pittsboro, NC - The Charge was grossly outnumbered and played the game with nine players and no substitutes. The Fire played most of the game with ten on the field and rotated their 17 players in and out of the game until midway through the second half when one of the Charge players (sick with the flu) had to come out.
The Fire coach apologized saying he hadn't noticed our fewer numbers and evened the number of players with a substitution, adding fewer players than he took off, making the game 9 v 9.
Despite the numbers, the Charge dominated play for most of the first portion of the game until fatigue became a factor. Playing with numbers down on a full sized field is very taxing. Great defensive efforts were provided by all. We had three players injured in the game by a very physical TUSA team, leaving us to play with 8 against their 9 for a portion of the game.
Sarah McBride played a beautiful ball down the left side to Rebecca Moore who capitalized on the assist, dribbled toward goal and shot the ball into the far post side netting to score the only goal for the Charge.
The Charge face the TUSA Renegades U-15 team on Sunday 9/27/09 on the Pittsboro Elementary School Field at 4 pm.
