Northwood softball defeats Cardinal Gibbons 1-0

Pittsboro, NC - The Northwood varsity softball team defeated Cardinal Gibbons Wednesday 1-0 behind the strong pitching of Carrie Webster who struck out 11 on the day. Lauren Oldham scored the Chargers only run in the sixth inning. Carrie Webster tripled in the sixth inning, Christa Surles doubled in the third, and Lauren Oldham and Kaitlyn Briggs singled for the only four Charger hits on the day.

The JV Softball team also defeated Cardinal Gibbons 9-1 on Wednesday. Chrissy Williams was the winning pitcher for the Lady Charger JVs. Kerri Snipes had two hits and scored two runs in the game. The Lady Chargers scored 6 runs in the first to take a 6-0 after one inning. Crystal Overcash, Katie Hudson, Sierra Timmons and Marissa Kirby also had two hits in the game. Timmons also hit a home run in the 5th inning.
