Pittsboro, NC - The Northwood Chargers staged a nice comeback in their 3-2 soccer win over Franklin Academy Monday evening in Pittsboro.
Down 1-0, Anthony Castro scored on an assist from Will Riggsbee to tie the match 15 minutes in. Franklin Academy went ahead 2-1 at the beginning of the second half with a great shot from the left wing past a diving Chase Golden. Max Middleton was fouled hard at midfield and that resulted in a Blake Svendsen direct kick. Blake put a ball into the box where Max was fouled again, resulting in a penalty kick for Northwood. Connor Lawrence converted the kick to tie the match at 2-2. Minutes later Connor took a Joey Suprick assist to the net for the 3-2 advantage.
Pedro Ramos came off the bench to give the Chargers a much needed spark. Chase Golden had 9 saves in the net.
Next match is at home Monday versus Cedar Ridge.
