Northwood shuts out East Chapel Hill, 24-10

Pittsboro, NC — The Northwood Chargers opened their 2009 season at home on Friday against East Chapel Hill at Charger Stadium.

Chapel Hill transfer Shane Peppers led the Chargers to a 24-0 victory with 17 carries for 96 yards and three touchdowns. Peppers' scored with 1-, 10-, and 9-yard runs.

Along with kicker Josue Pena's 20-yard field goal, Peppers provided all of the scoring.

Northwood quarterback Sam Griffin was 14 of 18 for 201 yards with one interception. Griffin is one of the best quarterbacks in the area. Last year, he threw for 2,582 passing yards, which is the most in Charger history.

AJ Farmer and Harold Baldwin each had four catches apiece. Farmer finished with 96 receiving yards and Baldwin had 51.
