Roanoke Rapids, NC - The Northwood girls varsity soccer team had a heart breaking loss at Roanoke Rapids Wednesday night. They lost 2-1 on penalty kicks after 110 minutes of soccer.

The ladies held a 1-0 advantage until late in the second half when Roanoke Rapids was awarded a penalty kick for a trip in the box. Both teams played hard with shot opportunities in the first two ten minute overtimes, then played through two five minute sudden death periods without scoring. Roanoke Rapids converted on three of their kicks and the Northwood ladies had one, to give them the win.

Sara McCaw was outstanding all evening with many great saves to keep the Chargers in the game. Our girls played hard and with determination all night, but on this night it was just not meant to be.

We wish the seniors, Casey, Allie and Darien much success in their future endeavors!
