Northwood girls varsity soccer defeats Jordan-Matthews

Pittsboro, NC - The Northwood High School varsity girls soccer team defeated Jordan-Matthews on Wednesday evening 11-1 in Pittsboro. Anna Elkins and Annie Cleaver had hat tricks, followed by Katie McGrath, Hannah Lawrence, April Gibbs, Maria Vanderford and Yancey Luft with one each. Annie recorded three assists, Emily Davis with two, Laura Shactman, April Gibbs, Hannah Lawrence and Maria ersVanderford with one each. It was a well balanced effort by the entire team this evening as they run their record to 3-0. Next match is at home Monday versus Granville Central at 6 pm.

The Northwood High School began their season on Wednesday with a 0-0 tie with Cedar Ridge. Tori Nothnagel was outstanding in the net with several key saves. The Chargers took eleven shots on goal and hit the post three times. Good efforts from Alli Dejong, Kallie Miller and Manon MacCalister helped the cause as well. The next match is on the road Monday.
