Lady Chargers advance to third round of State playoffs with 55-46 win over Rival Jordan Matthews

Pittsboro, NC - The Northwood varsity girls basketball team advanced to the third round of the state 2A playoffs with an exciting 55-46 win over county rival Jordan Matthews Wednesday, February 24 at Northwood High School. With the win the Lady Chargers advance to face the winner of the Bunn-Reidsville game on Friday or Saturday night.

Casey Norris led the Lady Chargers with 17 points as she hit all seven of her free throw attempts, four of these free throws in the final minute. Norris also dished out a team high five assists, while Annie Cleaver added four assists. Shelby Wolfe recorded a double-double for the Lady Chargers as she scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Olivia Oakley added eight points and a team high 13 rebounds. Yancy Luft and Breanna Greene provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Chargers, with Luft scoring five of her nine points in the first half, while Greene added six points. Kerri Snipes also scored for the Lady Chargers.

With the victory, the Lady Chargers improved to 16-10 on the season.
