Lillington, NC - Junior cornerback Tra Chandler intercepted a pass inside Charger territory with under two minutes remaining to seal a 14-6 victory for the visiting Chargers in the rain at Western Harnett High School on Friday night. The win improves the Chargers to 2-0 on the season with a trip to cross-county rival Jordan Matthews coming up this Friday night.

Chandler gave the Chargers the lead for good early in the first quarter when he took a short kick off on the fly and returned it untouched for a touchdown to give the Chargers a 7-6 lead following Josue Pena's extra point. After an interception on the next possession by safety A.J. Farmer, Sam Griffin took a quarterback draw in from three yards out on third and goal to give the Chargers a 14-6 lead following a second successful PAT by Charger kicker Josue Pena.

The Charger defense made key play after play throughout the rainy night, including forcing four Eagle turnovers on the night. These included a fumble recovery by Seth Spach, Farmer's first quarter interception that set up the second Charger touchdown, an interception by Ridge Smith in the fourth quarter that stopped an Eagle drive deep in Charger territory, and Chandler's game clinching interception late in the fourth quarter.

Blaine Ryan, Jamaal Baines, and Terrance Gordon all had quarterback sacks on the night.
