Northwood beats Warren County to advance in the football playoffs

Pittsboro, NC - The No. 7 seed Northwood Chargers beat No. 10 Warren County 35-20 on Friday night in the first round of the state 2-AA playoffs.

Tobias Palmer scored with a 3-yard run with 3:56 left in the first quarter. Warren County quarterback Victor Hunt answered with a 1-yard run to pull the Eagles (6-5) to within a point. Palmer responded with scoring runs of 27 and 8 yards to give Northwood a 21-6 halftime lead.

In the second half Palmer had touchdowns of 4 and 74 yards, tying the school-record five touchdowns he had set earlier this season against Burlington Williams. Tobias Palmer racked up 202 rushing yards.

The No. 7 seed Chargers (9-3) will take on No. 2 Cedar Ridge (9-3) in next Friday's second round. Cedar Ridge beat Northwood 17-7 three weeks ago in Pittsboro.
