Northwood beats Jordan-Matthews 19-15
[Sep. 3, 2005] Quarterback Dean Hatami threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Justin Beau with 1:07 remaining to rally Northwood past Jordan-Matthews. Northwood started its game-winning drive on its own 30. Hatami was 4-for-5 for 58 yards on the seven-play drive and also had a 12-yard run. He found Tim Courtney for his first three completions on the drive before hooking up with Beau for the score.

Chatham Central beats North Duplin 12-6
[Aug. 27, 2005] The Chatham Central Bears overcame numerous mistakes to beat North Duplin 12-6 in Friday night's football game. Chatham Central fumbled three times inside the Rebels' 5-yard line in the first half. Chatham Central took the lead when Andrews hooked up with Kyle Scott for a 12-yard touchdown pass. The Bears held North Duplin to nine yards of total offense in the first half, but they only managed to go into halftime ahead just 6-0.

Northwood beats Vikings 38-6
[Aug. 20, 2005] Northwood's Kenny Allen rushed for two touchdowns and the Chargers passed for 195 yards and two more scores to beat the Union Pines Vikings 38-6 Friday night.

Jordan-Matthews beats Southwestern Randolph 21-6
[Aug. 20, 2005] In Friday night's season opener against Jordan-Matthews, the Southwestern Randolph Cougars' junior quarterback Ethan Marsh found Tyler Hasty in the end zone two minutes in for the first score of the game. Southwestern Randolph didn't reach the end zone again, losing 21-6 to the Jets.

Five named to join the NCHSAA Hall of Fame
[Aug. 18, 2005] Five state prep athletic have been selected for induction into the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Tim Brayboy of Cary, Jim Burch of Cary, Dick Knox of Chapel Hill, the late Tom McQuaid of Beaufort and Mike Raybon of Jamestown have been chosen as the 19th group of inductees to join the prestigious hall. The new inductees will be honored during special halftime ceremonies at a football game at Kenan Stadium on Saturday, November 12, when North Carolina takes on Maryland.

North Carolina high school spring scholar-athlete winners named
[Aug. 17, 2005] The NCHSAA made the awards in its Scholar-Athlete program, which includes recognition of varsity teams which attain certain grades as well as individual athletes. A total of 3,395 student-athletes earned the individual Scholar-Athlete award, and 205 varsity teams in sports captured team honors.

Carolina Cup to be awarded to top high school cheerleading team
[Aug. 15, 2005] The North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced today that Cheer Ltd. Inc., a national leader in the spirit industry, has established the Carolina Cup Award to recognize annually the top high school varsity cheerleading team in North Carolina. The first Carolina Cup will be presented at the 2005 NCHSAA State Invitational Cheerleading Championships to be held on Saturday, November 12, at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh.

Northwood Football Jamboree
[Aug. 12, 2005] It may still be hot outside but it is time to start thinking about fall’s greatest pastime - FOOTBALL! Northwood High School plays host to half a dozen teams, on Friday, August 12, 2005, 6:00 p.m., for a pad-poppin' Jamboree. [Jun. 23, 2005] Wachovia Bank, N.A., along with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, today announced the final standings for the Wachovia Cup competitions for the 2004-2005 academic year.

2005 Wachovia Conference Cup final standings announced
[Jun. 14, 2005] The Wachovia Conference Cup, sponsored annually by Wachovia and sanctioned by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, recognizes high school sports programs that achieve the best overall performance within their respective athletic conferences. Wachovia has sponsored a conference awards program since 1980.

Farmville Central defeats Chatham Central to win 1-A Championship
[Jun. 4, 2005] Senior rightfielder Brandon Cox did it all on Saturday with his bat, glove and arm ­ to lead Farmville Central to a 3-1 triumph over Chatham Central and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 1-A baseball championship at Doak Field on the N.C. State University campus.

Southern Alamance wins third game in 3-A baseball championship
[Jun. 4, 2005] Southern Alamance took any doubt away early, exploding for eight runs in the opening inning and coasting to a 10-0 victory over Northwest Cabarrus on Saturday night to clinch the championship in the third and final game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A baseball championship series at Doak Field on the N.C. State campus.
