NCHSAA basketball championship schedule[Mar. 5, 2006] The NCHSAA's 92nd annual men's basketball championships and the 35th annual women's basketball championships will be held on March 11th. The championship games will be played at the Dean Smith Center at UNC in Chapel Hill and at Reynolds Coliseum at NC State in Raleigh.
Yadkin Valley all-conference athletes named[Dec. 17, 2005] The Yadkin Valley 1A Conference has named its all-conference athletes for the 2005 fall sports season. Chatham Central High School and Jordan-Matthews High School are members of the conference in addition to East Montgomery, North Moore, South Davidson, Thomasville, and West Montgomery high schools.
Mid-State all-conference athletes named[Dec. 16, 2005] The Mid-State conference has named its all-conference athletes in fall sports for 2005. The high school conference consists of Cardinal Gibbons, Cedar Ridge, Durham School of the Arts, Graham, Northwood, Orange, and Raleigh Charter. Northwood High School had multiple student athletes who earned honors in six different sports.
Four state men's soccer titles up for grabs at SAS stadium[Nov. 17, 2005] Carolina High School Athletic Association's state men's soccer championships games will be played at the SAS Stadium in Cary. The 1-A game at 1 p.m. pits the Bulldogs of Thomasville (16-5-2) against Manteo (19-2-3). Thomasville knocked off defending state 1-A champ Siler City Jordan-Matthews in sudden death overtime in the state quarterfinals.
Northwood beats Warren County to advance in the football playoffs[Nov. 12, 2005] The No. 7 seed Northwood Chargers beat No. 10 Warren County 35-20 on Friday night in the first round of the state 2-AA playoffs. Tobias Palmer scored with a 3-yard run with 3:56 left in the first quarter. Warren County quarterback Victor Hunt answered with a 1-yard run to pull the Eagles (6-5) to within a point. Palmer responded with scoring runs of 27 and 8 yards to give Northwood a 21-6 halftime lead.

Chatham football teams start playoffs at home[Nov. 6, 2005] Chatham Central (5-5) was given a No. 6 seed in the 1-A West bracket and will host 11th-seeded Robbinsville (3-7) in the first home state football tournament game in Chatham Central history. Northwood (7-3) was given a No. 7 seed in the 2-AA East bracket and will host No. 10 Warren County (6-4) while Jordan Matthews (6-4), as a No. 8 seed, will host former conference rival Albemarle (6-4), which was granted a No. 9 seed in the 1-AA West tournament.

NC High School Women's Tennis Championships this weekend.[Oct. 26, 2005] Individual champions will be crowned this weekend as the North Carolina High School Athletic Association holds its annual women's tennis championships. Jordan Matthews' Jennifer Domeron and Molly Parks will be competing in the doubles category.
