NCHSAA Day set for Saturday at Kenan Stadium[Oct. 2, 2007] The North Carolina High School Athletic Association will be recognized by the University of North Carolina this
Saturday at Kenan Stadium. The North Carolina-Miami football game, which has a kickoff time of noon, has been designated as the 23rd annual NCHSAA Day.
2007 North Carolina high school men's basketball pairings set[Feb. 17, 2007] The North Carolina High School Association has released the men's basketball pairings for the 2007 sectional tournaments. Siler City's Jordan-Matthews (15-10) will play at Raleigh Charter (8-18) winner of North Stokes--Winston-Salem Prep play-in game vs. Mount Airy (22-5). Bear Creek's Chatham Central (4-20) at East Montgomery (15-8). Both games will take place on Monday, February 19th at 7 p.m.
2007 North Carolina high school women's basketball pairings set[Feb. 17, 2007] The North Carolina High School Association has released the women's basketball pairings for the 2007 sectional tournaments. Pittsboro's Northwood High (12-11) will play at Eastern Guilford (12-10). Siler City's Jordan Matthews (14-10) will play at N.C. School of Science and Math (6-16). Both games will take place on Tuesday, February 20th at 7 p.m.
Efforts underway to research NCHSAC history[Jan. 19, 2007] In recognition of Black History Month in February, a group of alumni from historically black high schools has offered an interesting and inexpensive way for communities to participate in reclaiming a part of their own history.
Northwood beats Ledford, 40 - 21[Nov. 19, 2006] The Northwood football team made school history when they advanced to the third round of the NCHSAA football playoffs with a 40-21 2-AA win over Ledford. Ledford saw its season end at 7-6.
Northwood returns a strong, quick squad[Sep. 11, 2006] Round two of the State Playoffs was the best the '05 team could accomplish, but the '06 team hopes to do at least one better. "We're taking this season one game at a time," says veteran Head Coach Bill Hall. "If we play like were capable, and stay relatively injury free, we have an excellent chance of going all the way this year."

Northwood defeats Western Harnett, 38-12[Aug. 27, 2006] Northwood opened its 2006 football schedule last weekend by thrashing Union Pines, 35-13. This week they defeated Western Harnett, 38-12. For the first time since 2003, the Northwood Chargers are off to a 2-0 season start.
