[Apr. 10, 2009] The Northwood girls soccer team finally put together a complete match and came away with a 2-1 victory over the NC School of Science and Math Tuesday night.
 
Northwood to host Lady Charger Invitational
[Mar. 30, 2009] The Northwood High School Softball Complex will be the host site of the Lady Charger Invitational on Saturday, April 4. Teams scheduled to play include Chatham Central, Cedar Ridge, and Northern Durham.
 
Northwood varsity softball defeats NCSSM, 13-2
[Mar. 28, 2009] The Lady Chargers varsity softball team defeated the North Carolina School of Science and Math in five innings due to the mercy rule Tuesday night 13-2. Lauren Martin was the winning pitcher as she pitched four strong innings before Carrie Webster closed the game out with two strike outs en route to three up and three down in the top of the fifth.
 
NCHSAA announces Wachovia Cup state standings
[Mar. 23, 2009] Wachovia, a Wells Fargo company, and the North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced the standings after the winter sports seasons in the Wachovia Cup competitions for the 2008-09 academic year.
 
Northwood JV softball team loses rain shortened game at Cedar Ridge
[Mar. 21, 2009] The Northwood JV Lady Chargers softball team lost a rain shortened game at Cedar Ridge on Thursday evening 6-5. Sierra Timmons had two hits including her second home run on the season in the loss.
 
Northwood softball defeats Cardinal Gibbons 1-0
[Mar. 21, 2009] The Northwood varsity softball team defeated Cardinal Gibbons Wednesday 1-0 behind the strong pitching of Carrie Webster who struck out 11 on the day. Lauren Oldham scored the Chargers only run in the sixth inning. Carrie Webster tripled in the sixth inning, Christa Surles doubled in the third, and Lauren Oldham and Kaitlyn Briggs singled for the only four Charger hits on the day.
 
Northwood golfers compete in third conference match
[Mar. 21, 2009] The Charger golf team competed in their third conference match on Wednesday and posted a respectable team total of 164. Brandon Marcinkiewicz and Philip Brooks led the Chargers with a pair of 39s. By Coach Buckner

[Mar. 6, 2009] The Northwood High School boys' basketball team rallied from a first half deficit to defeat the South Brunswick Cougars last night 53-46 to advance to the 2A Eastern Regional Finals Saturday night at Minges Coliseum on the campus of East Carolina University. The Chargers move on to face East Duplin who upset Mid State 2A Champion Burlington Cummings last night in the other Regional Semifinal, at 5pm Saturday again at Minges Coliseum on the campus of East Carolina University. [Feb. 24, 2009] The Northwood High School boys basketball team advanced to the second round of the State 2A Playoffs with a 62-40 victory over Southern Vance Monday night at a home game. With the win, the Chargers secured a trip to Goldsboro Wednesday night for their Second Round game.

[Feb. 23, 2009] The Northwood High School varsity boys' basketball team fought valiantly and led by 1 at the half, but after cutting the lead to two on a pull up three by Juan Young with under three minutes remaining, the Cummings Cavaliers pulled away the rest of the game eventually winning the Mid State 2A Conference Championship 75-68.

[Feb. 18, 2009] The Northwood High School JV girls rallied from a 10 point deficit, even trailing 39-34 heading into the fourth quarter, to defeat the Orange High School Panthers 51-46. In the JV boys game, the Charger JVs rallied from a 24 point deficit with less than 6 minutes remaining to defeat Orange 78-77.
