Winston-Salem, N.C. -- Wake Forest and Ole Miss have signed a two-game football contract, Demon Deacon officials announced on Wednesday.

Wake Forest will travel to Oxford, Miss., to play the Rebels on Sept. 23, 2006. Ole Miss will return the trip to Groves Stadium on Sept. 6, 2008.

“We are pleased to play a quality opponent from the SEC like Ole Miss,” athletic director Ron Wellman said. “We're excited about this non-conference series and the opportunity for our fans and team to compete with a program of such quality.”

Wake Forest has never played Ole Miss, or in the state of Mississippi. In fact, the Deacons haven’t traveled to an SEC stadium since 1994 at Vanderbilt. Wake Forest has not hosted an SEC school since the 2000 season when the Commodores came to Groves Stadium, but Vanderbilt will re-visit Winston-Salem for the 2005 season opener.
