Winston-Salem, NC – Wake Forest began spring football drills on Wednesday, March 26 with practice sessions continuing until the spring game on Saturday, April 19.

The Deacons, 9-4 last year and champions of the Meineke Car Care Bowl, are scheduled to practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the week and on Saturay mornings over the next four weeks.

Pro Timing Day will be held on Tuesday, March 25.

The spring game on April 19 is set for a 1:00 p.m. start and will be held on campus at the Doc Martin Practice Complex. The Deacons will practice on campus with the exception of two Saturday sessions at BB&T Field on April 5 and April 12.

The Deacons return 46 lettermen from last year’s team that went 5-2 and tied for second in the ACC’s Atlantic Division. Nine starters return on defense and seven on offense as the Deacons will be seeking a third straight bowl appearance for the first time in school history. Wake Forest will open the 2008 season at Baylor on August. 30.

The NCAA allows each Football Bowl Subdivision team 15 practice sessions for spring football. The first two practice sessions are mandated to be non-contact periods.
