Games added in 2007 and 2009.

The University of North Carolina and East Carolina University have scheduled two additional football games, including a 2007 game in Greenville and a 2009 meeting in Chapel Hill. Contracts for the two games were signed this week.

The schools previously had scheduled games to be played on October 2, 2010, in Chapel Hill, and October 1, 2011, in Greenville.

The schools have played 10 times. The most recent contests were a 24-21 Tar Heel victory in Chapel Hill on October 6, 2001, and a 28-17 UNC win in Greenville on October 11, 2003.

"We had been looking at possible opponents in the event the NCAA passed the provision to allow a 12th game and playing East Carolina offered us an opportunity to play an in-state team, which our fans enjoyed the last two times we played," says UNC Director of Athletics Dick Baddour. "We have a great fan base in the eastern part of the state and playing an occasional game in Greenville gives those fans a chance to see us play even closer to home."

"This should be entertaining for the state of North Carolina," says UNC head coach John Bunting. "The most recent games between our programs were intense and had a lot of interest. I am pleased we are able to continue this series."
