Leroy Harris and Mario Williams from the NC State football team were named to the Freshman All-America Team by Scripps and the Football Writers Association of America.

The 27-member Scripps/FWAA team was selected by an 11-man committee representing each of the NCAA's Division I-A football conferences.

More than 70 players were nominated and evaluated by the committee. The vote took place following the respective conference championship games and before the bowl games.

Harris, a 6-3, 285-pound offensive guard from Raleigh started every game this year. A redshirt-freshman, Harris helped pave the way for the Wolfpack's league-leading mark of 453.2 yards of total offense per game this season. Selected All-ACC Honorable Mention, Harris led the squad in "Raleigh Railroads," which are awarded when the lineman drives a defender back at least five yards.

Williams, a 6-7, 254-pound defensive end from Richlands, N.C., started every game this year as well. A true freshman, Williams was among team leaders in both tackles and tackles for loss. He led the defensive line with 44 stops and reached double digits in tackles for loss and quarterback pressures to go with his five sacks and five pass breakups this season.

Both Harris and Williams were also picked to the Sporting News Freshman All-America team last month and Williams was named to College Football News Freshman All-America team as well.
