Duke holds Meet the Blue Devils Day

Durham, NC - The Duke University football team held its annual "Meet the Blue Devils Day" on Saturday in the Wilson Recreation Center behind the East gate of Wallace Wade Stadium.

Each Blue Devil fan received a free Duke football poster and schedule magnet at the door. Along with the free gifts they received a raffle ticket for several prizes that were given out during the two-hour fan day.

Midway through the event several Duke football players spoke to the crowd about the upcoming season, including Justin Boyle, Zack Maurides, Tielor Robinson, Matt Rumsey, Jomar Wright, Kinney Rucker and Chris Davis. The players were asked questions by Bob Harris, the veteran Voice of the Blue Devils.

About 500 Duke fans of all ages were in attendance for the event that also featured the Duke cheerleaders and Blue Devil mascot.

Sponsors of the event include Alltel Wireless, Blue Devil Weekly, Crocs, Delta Air Lines, Durham Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Gatorade, The Herald-Sun, Lineberry and Company, Northgate Mall, Qualex and Time Warner Cable.

Duke opens the 2007 season at home against Connecticut on September 1 at 2 p.m. Tickets are available online at GoDuke.com or by calling the athletic ticket office at 681-BLUE.
