Durham, NC - Duke head coach Ted Roof announced on Thursday that senior wide receiver Lance Johnson has been dismissed from the Blue Devil football program for violation of team policy.

"Obviously this is an unfortunate situation," Roof said. "We wish Lance the best of luck in his future endeavors."

Johnson, a native of Hickory, N.C., appeared in 33 career games for the Blue Devils with 13 starting assignments. He caught 49 career passes for 528 yards and three touchdowns. After catching one pass as a freshman in 2001, Johnson had 25 and 23 receptions in his sophomore and junior seasons, respectively, and established career single-game bests of seven grabs for 69 yards against Maryland in 2002.
