Atlantic Coast Conference announces ACC Football Players of the Week[Nov. 14, 2011] Clemson center Dalton Freeman and Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas headline a list of eight players named as the ACC Football Players of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. Freeman, the Offensive Lineman of the Week, helped the Tiger offense accumulate 522 yards of offense in a 31-28 win over Wake Forest to clinch a spot in the ACC Championship. Thomas, the Offensive Back of the Week, accounted for five touchdowns as Virginia Tech defeated Georgia Tech 37-26.
Atlantic Coast Conference announces ACC Football Players of the Week[Nov. 10, 2011] Virginia wide receiver Kris Burd, offensive guard Austin Pasztor, and safety Rodney McLeod headline a list of nine players named as the ACC Football Players of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday. Burd, the Receiver of the Week, caught nine passes for 112 yards to help the Cavaliers defeat Maryland, 31-13. Pasztor, the Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week, had six knockdown blocks to help the Virginia offense amass a season-high 527 yards. McLeod, the Defensive Back of the Week, had three interceptions in the second half to secure the win.
General public tickets sold out for 2011 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game[Nov. 10, 2011] General public tickets for the 2011 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game are sold out, as announced today by Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John Swofford. The only tickets remaining are the 10,000 that will be made available to each participating institution once the Atlantic and Coastal Divisional Championships are clinched.
Atlantic Coast Conference announces ACC Football Players of the Week[Nov. 2, 2011] Boston College running back Rolandan Finch and Georgia Tech defensive back Jemea Thomas headline a list of eight players named as the ACC Football Players of the Week, announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday. Finch, the Offensive Back of the Week, compiled 243 rushing yards - the most by an ACC back since 2009 - on 39 carries in Boston College's 28-17 win over Maryland. Thomas, the Defensive Back of the Week, intercepted two passes in his first career start to help Georgia Tech beat previously undefeated Clemson 31-17.
Atlantic Coast Conference announces ACC Football Players of the Week[Oct. 17, 2011] Clemson freshman wide receiver Sammy Watkins and Miami linebacker Sean Spence headline a list of seven players named as the ACC Football Players of the Week, announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday. Watkins was named the Rookie and the Receiver of the Week for his play in the 56-45 win at Maryland, the second time this season he has picked up dual honors in the same week. It is the seventh award overall – four rookie and three receiver – for the true freshman from Fort Myers, Fla. Miami’s Sean Spence was named the Linebacker of the Week for the second straight week for his performance in the Hurricanes’ 30-24 win at North Carolina.
Atlantic Coast Conference announces ACC Football Players of the Week[Oct. 3, 2011] Clemson sophomore quarterback Tajh Boyd, freshman wide receiver Sammy Watkins, and Georgia Tech’s Omoregie Uzzi all repeated as award winners and headline a list of eight players named as the ACC Football Players of the Week by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday. Boyd, the Offensive Back of the Week, and Watkins, the Receiver of the Week, led the Tigers to their second straight win over a ranked team. Uzzi, the Offensive Lineman of the Week, helped the Jacket offense accumulate 312 rushing yards in the conference opener against North Carolina. Both Clemson and Georgia Tech improved to 4-0 this season with the wins.
