[Aug. 6, 2005] Headlined by 45 returning lettermen, Duke head football coach Ted Roof and his staff will welcome the entire Blue Devil team to campus on Sunday for the start of preseason camp. Duke opens practice on Monday evening, and kicks off the 2005 schedule on September 3 at East Carolina.

[Aug. 5, 2005] Wake Forest’s 2005 campaign officially got underway Thursday night with a two-hour session under the lights at the team’s on-campus practice facility. Anticipation for the first practice of football season at Wake Forest was high as players were chatting and tossing the ball on the field almost 40 minutes before the session actually began.

[Aug. 3, 2005] Wake Forest head football coach Jim Grobe welcomed his fifth Wake Forest football team to campus on Wednesday. The Demon Deacons begin preseason with a two-hour practice session on Thursday beginning at 8:15 p.m. on the campus practice fields next to the Pruitt Football Wing. All Wake Forest preseason practices are open to the public and the media.

[Aug. 3, 2005] The Duke football program will host its annual Meet the Blue Devils Day on Saturday, August 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Yoh Football Center on campus. Players and coaches will be available for autographs and pictures while posters will be distributed free of charge.

[Jul. 27, 2005] Beginning this week, the NC State athletic media relations office is selling a limited edition Wolfpack poster. The 24x36 inch glossy poster is a photo mosaic that features the color and pageantry of Wolfpack football and is suitable for framing. Several of the images in the mosaic were taken by Chatham Journal photographer Gene Galin.

[Jul. 26, 2005] Senior running back Chris Barclay, junior punter Ryan Plackemeier and junior offensive tackle Steve Vallos were named Preseason All-ACC by the league's media Monday in voting conducted at the annual Football Kickoff. Wake Forest, along with Miami and NC State, were the only three schools to have three players recognized on the All-ACC squads.

[Jul. 25, 2005] Preseason All-ACC selections were announced Monday at the ACC Kickoff. Area ACC players who made the list were Wake Forest's running back Chris Barclay, offensive lineman Steve Vallos and punter Ryan Plackemeier; NC State's wide receiver Tramain Hall, defensive end Mario Williams and defensive end Manny Lawson; UNC's offensive guard Kyle Ralph.

[Jul. 25, 2005] Members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association cast their preseason ballots on Monday afternoon at the 2005 ACC Football Kickoff at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. The highest projected finish for an area ACC school was NC State. The Wolfpack was picked to finish third in the Atlantic Division of the ACC.

[Jul. 24, 2005] Five Duke players have earned preseason recognition from annual publications previewing the 2005 football season. The Sporting News named John Talley and Tyler Krieg to its second team all-league unit while Athlon Sports tabbed Talley and Chris Davis to its second team all-conference squad with Phillip Alexander receiving third team merit. In addition, rookie Vince Oghobaase was named the ACC’s Top Impact Freshman by Street & Smith’s college football preview edition.
