The Pack has won 12 of the last 13 meetings with Wake at Carter-Finley Stadium, with the only home loss since 1984 coming in 2006.

Grobe and Wake Forest Demon Deacons aim for back-to-back bowls[Aug. 19, 2012]
Of all of the teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference that dropped close games in 2011, Wake Forest probably played the "what-if" game the most. Coach Jim Grobe's Demon Deacons were just a missed field goal away from claiming a berth in the ACC Football Championship Game, but instead saw Clemson emerge with a 31-28 last-second victory and a trip to Charlotte. Wake dropped four games last fall by seven or fewer points, including an overtime defeat at Syracuse and late-season heartbreakers to Notre Dame (24-17) and Mississippi State (23-17). The latter loss to the Bulldogs occurred in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl-Wake's fifth bowl trip under Grobe--and dropped the Deacons' final record to 6-7 overall.
Larry Fedora's Tar Heels in a hurry to open new era[Aug. 19, 2012]
North Carolina's football program begins a new era on Sept. 1, when the Tar Heels' host in-state foe Elon at Kenan Stadium. New head coach Larry Fedora brings a distinctively different style, featuring a wide-open spread offense which plays faster, and one the Tar Heels hope is more productive. Fedora's offenses averaged almost 12 more plays per game in compiling 34-19 record at Southern Miss than UNC ran in 2011. With marquee talents such as junior quarterback Bryn Renner (10th nationally in passing efficiency in 2011) and running back Giovanni Bernard (first-team All-ACC after 1,253 yards and 13 TDs) on hand, plus four of five returning starters on its offensive line, UNC's offense should be among the most potent in the ACC this year.
Duke coach David Cutcliffe looks to continue positive momentum in Durham[Aug. 19, 2012]
Back-to-back three win seasons don't wow the casual fan, but if one looks below the surface, Coach David Cutcliffe is building something in Durham. Duke knocked on the door of bowl eligibility in 2011, losing heartbreakers to Richmond (23-21), Wake Forest (24-23) and Virginia Tech (14-10) to miss a 6-6 finish by a total of seven points. The Blue Devils were ravaged by injuries in 2011 and are hoping to avoid that fate in 2012. Unfortunately, it has already started with more of the same: linebacker Kelby Brown tore his ACL in spring practice, and the entire team was dealt a blow when wide receiver Blair Holliday suffered a severe head injury in a summer water skiing accident.
