Wake Forest makes its farthest trip away from home since a 1999 trek to the Jeep Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii, when the Demon Deacons travel to Lincoln, Neb. to face the Cornhuskers at 7:00 pm in a game shown nationally on TBS.

Carolina started the week with a bye and will have another off week on October 15.

[Sep. 8, 2005] The University of North Carolina has signed a contract to play a home-and-home football series with the University of South Carolina. North Carolina will play host to the Gamecocks on October 13, 2007, in Kenan Stadium and will visit Columbia on September 18, 2010. North Carolina and South Carolina have played 54 times with the Tar Heels holding a 34-16-4 advantage. The last meeting came in 1991 in Chapel Hill.

State by a score of 20-16 on Sunday night in Raleigh.

[Sep. 3, 2005] For the second straight year, Wake Forest senior running back Chris Barclay has been selected as a candidate for the Doak Walker Award. The SMU Athletic Forum announced the 2005 preseason list on Thursday. The Doak Walker Award is annually presented to the best running back in college football.

[Sep. 2, 2005] Jeff Jennings scored from 5 yards out with 1:48 to play Thursday night to help Vanderbilt beat Wake Forest 24-20 and win a season opener for the first time in eight years. Jay Cutler threw for 276 yards and a score while running for 89 more for the Commodores. Jennings ran for just 43 yards, but finished with two scores - the last helping Vanderbilt shake off a blown 11-point, third-quarter lead.
