Wake Forest's spring football game set for Saturday[Apr. 11, 2007] A full Saturday of Deacon sports is planned for Saturday, April 14 including the annual Spring Football Game and the baseball team's contest against Clemson at Hooks Stadium. Admission to the Spring Game is free. In addition to the scrimmage, there will be a full array of interactive activities designed to give Wake Forest fans an up-close look at the Demon Deacon football program

East Carolina Pirates announce 2007 football schedule[Feb. 27, 2007] East Carolina will host in-state rivals North Carolina and North Carolina State in 2007. The school released its schedule Monday, and it includes road games at Virginia Tech and West Virginia, a pair of bowl teams that were nationally ranked in 2006.
Duke announces football staff departures[Feb. 2, 2007] Duke University announced on Friday that assistant football coaches Jerry Azzinaro and Charles London will not return to the staff for the 2007 season.
Ben Mauk decides not to return to WFU for 2007 season[Feb. 2, 2007] Quarterback Ben Mauk has opted to complete his undergraduate requirements at Wake Forest this spring and pursue a Master’s degree at another school next fall. Mauk has told the Wake Forest coaching staff that he plans to have a career in education as a teacher or coach and will attend a school that offers an advanced degree in education administration. Wake Forest does not offer that degree.
ACC releases 2007 football schedule[Jan. 25, 2007] The 2007 Atlantic Coast Conference football schedule released yesterday by Commissioner John D. Swofford is comprised of 96 games, including 48 conference match-ups, over a span of 13 weeks.
Duke holds first football summit[Jan. 15, 2007] Over 200 former football players returned to campus this weekend for the first Duke Football Summit. Following a reception at the Yoh Football Center on Friday evening, the group met for over six hours at the Washington Duke Inn on Saturday, listening to several presentations by Duke staff members including president Richard Brodhead, director of athletics Joe Alleva and head coach Ted Roof.
John Talley earns second straight Duke football MVP award[Jan. 13, 2007] For the second consecutive year, cornerback John Talley was named the recipient of the Carmen Falcone Most Valuable Player Award at Duke University’s annual football banquet held on Saturday evening in Durham, N.C.
WFU's Grobe voted National Coach of the Year by his peers[Jan. 11, 2007] Wake Forest’s Jim Grobe has been chosen as the 2006 American Football Coaches Association National Coach of the Year. The winner is selected by the 10,000 members of the AFCA. The most recent winners of the Division I-A award include Joe Paterno of Penn State, Tommy Tuberville of Auburn, Pete Carroll of Southern California and Jim Tressel of Ohio State.
NCSU's Tom O'Brien hires offensive staff[Jan. 5, 2007] NC State head football coach Tom O'Brien has announced that all four of his offensive assistants from Boston College will join him in Raleigh. That group directed the Eagle offense that led the ACC in total yards in 2005 and ranked second in 2006. Boston College also led the league in passing offense this past season.
Wake Forest Orange Bowl post-game notes[Jan. 3, 2007] The following seniors started their last game at the 2006 Fed Ex Orange Bowl as Demon Deacons: Steve Vallos (48 starts), Patrick Ghee (36), Josh Gattis (33), Jyles Tucker (30), Nate Morton (28), Arby Jones (24), Willie Idlette (22), Riley Swanson (20) and Jamil Smith (15). Redshirt freshman defensive tackle John Russell started his first career game.
