DURHAM, N.C. - The Duke University football team opened practice on Monday evening, working out in helmets and shorts for just over two hours under overcast skies.
"It was good to get out here," said junior quarterback Mike Schneider. "We know that there is a lot of work to be done, and we've got to be patient. We're all looking forward to having a good camp."
Monday's practice session featured offense, defense and special teams drills. The Blue Devils will continue to don just helmets for Tuesday night's practice before elevating to helmets and shoulder pads on Wednesday.
Duke kicks off the 2005 season on September 3 at East Carolina (1 p.m.).
