Tuesday night's practice marked the first of the 2004 pre-season. In pleasantly cooler than average temperatures and under the lights of the campus practice fields, head coach Jim Grobe and his staff conducted a helmet-only, no contact session, designated mostly to learning the fundamentals. The practice lasted from 7-10pm.

Quoting Head Coach Jim Grobe on his expectations of this evening: “Tonight was basically a time for the guys to learn the fundamentals. In fact most of this week will be dedicated to the careful teaching of fundamentals. We want to make sure our guys have a good, strong understanding and foundation heading into the contact practices in the weeks to come.”

Quoting Head Coach Jim Grobe on injured senior Joe Salsich: “We’re not quite sure what is wrong with Joe right now, but we don’t think it’s serious nor do we anticipate him sitting out of practice for very long. We’ll just give it some time and see what happens.”

On The Sideline: Fifth-year senior Joe Salsich watched from the sidelines tonight, after seemingly re-aggravating an old injury. The Annapolis, Md. native is not expected to remain on the sidelines for very long.

Upcoming Practice Schedule: Practice continues Wednesday on the campus fields with a 2:30 p.m. session. Here is the team’s practice schedule for the next couple days.

Wednesday, August 11 2:30-5:45pm (Campus Field)
Thursday, August 12 2:30-5:45pm (Campus Field)
Friday, August 13 2:30-5:45pm (Campus Field)
