Chapel Hill, NC - The University of North Carolina will wear Carolina Blue and black uniforms against San Diego State on September 6, and will encourage its fans to also wear Carolina Blue or black in a game billed as the "Kenan Stadium Tar Pit Stripe Out."
Based on their ticketed section (see seating diagram), UNC fans should wear Carolina Blue or black to the 8 p.m. game vs. the Aztecs. Carolina students are asked to wear black and sit in the Tar Pit student section in the west end zone.
"We wanted to create an event and an environment that continues to connect our team to The Tar Pit - the name for the student section - and also incorporates the entire stadium." said head coach Larry Fedora. "Carolina Blue is our school color but we want to incorporate the black tar from the Tar Heel foot logo and build on the success of last year's Zero Dark Thursday game."
Official Kenan Stadium Tar Pit Stripe Out t-shirts can be purchased for $14 in the stadium during the Liberty (Sept. 30) and San Diego State games. Students will be able to purchase stripe out shirts for $12 by showing their UNC One Card at Chapel Hill Sportswear on non-game days.
Shirts also are now available at Chapel Hill Sportswear, which is located on Franklin Street, and the UNC Student Stores. Those shirts also will be available for sale at Carolina's "Meet The Heels" event on Saturday, Aug. 2.
