2006 ACC football schedule is released

Season concludes in Jacksonville at the 2006 ACC Football Championship

Greensboro, NC - The 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference football schedule released today by Commissioner John D. Swofford is comprised of 97 games, including 48 conference match-ups and the second annual ACC Championship Game, Dec. 2, in Jacksonville, Fla., over a span of 14 weeks.

An 11-game schedule involving all 12 league teams comprises the season's opening weekend. Boston College opens the 2006 campaign when the Eagles travel to Athens, Ohio, to take on Ohio University on Thursday, August 31.

Sixteen of the league's 48 non-conference games are against 14 teams that earned bowl berths in 2005 including Akron, Alabama, Brigham Young, Florida, Georgia, Houston, Louisville, Navy, Notre Dame (twice), Rutgers, South Carolina, South Florida, Southern Mississippi (twice) and West Virginia.
