DURHAM, N.C. - Rising junior midfielder Marian Dickinson has been named to the 16-woman roster that will represent Field Hockey Canada at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Held on July 13-29, the Pan American Games represent a qualifying opportunity for the 2008 Beijing Summer Games.

The Canadian women enter the tournament as the third-ranked Pan American Games team behind a strong Argentina team and the U.S. This past year, the women have centralized their training program in Vancouver, BC, and are currently fine tuning game strategies at a Vancouver Island Training Camp. The women have responded well in recent competitions with five wins, three losses, and one draw in their last nine international matches over the past two months.

If the women do not win the Gold medal at the Pan American Games in Brazil, the women will move on to compete at home in the World-HOCKEY Women's Olympic Qualifier, held April 26 - May 4, 2008, in Victoria, BC.

Dickinson helped lead Duke to its fourth consecutive Final Four in 2006, securing team-best numbers in goals (19) and total points (48), while dishing out a team-high tying 10 assists. The Calgary, Alberta, native received third team All-America honors and was named All-South Region, as the Blue Devils finished the season with a mark of 16-6 (3-2 ACC) and a national ranking of No. 4.

Joining Dickinson on the Canadian National Team is former teammate and 2007 Duke graduate Hilary Linton, who was a three-time All-America selection, All-South Region and All-ACC pick for the Blue Devils. Linton joins her sister, Clare, on the Canadian roster, as well.
