[Feb. 20, 2005] Conway, S.C. – Freshman hurler Meredith O’Connor (Charlotte, N.C.) struck out 10 batters while throwing seven shutout innings in Appalachian State University’s 2-0 victory over host Coastal Carolina University in the final game of the Coastal Softball Triple Play Weekend. Sophomore designated player Kristyn Hurt (Siler City, N.C.) added an insurance run in the sixth inning with a solo home run to left center.

[Feb. 19, 2005] Conway, S.C. - Appalachian State softball dropped two games Saturday in the first day of the Coastal Carolina tournament. The Mountaineers fell to the host Chanticleers, 2-1, and to St. John's, 7-1. The setbacks push ASU to 3-9 on the season. Appalachian picked up a single run in the bottom of the second when Kristyn Hurt (Siler City, N.C.), but the Mountaineers could get no more.

[Feb. 5, 2005] Boone, N.C. – Appalachian State University softball was picked to finish seventh in the Southern Conference this season, according to a poll of the league’s coaches. The coaches also selected Appalachian sophomore Kristyn Hurt of Siler City, N.C. as the first-team designated player on the league’s preseason all-conference squad.
