ELON, N.C. -- Elon University men's golf coach Bill Morningstar today announced the signings of four golfers to National Letters of Intent for the 2005-06 school year. Joining the Phoenix next fall will be Cameron Cheek (Siler City, N.C./Jordan Matthews), Christopher Farnsworth (Signal Mountain, Tenn./The Baylor School), Jayson Judy (Gibsonville, N.C./Alamance Christian) and Christopher Wirt (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry).

Cheek won the North Carolina I-A individual state title in 2004 while helping lead Jordan Matthews High to team titles in 2003 and 2004. A three-time all-conference selection, Cheek was named Yadkin Valley Player of the Year in 2003 and team MVP three times. Cameron is the son of Tony and Belinda Cheek and played for Patrick Bass and "Twig" Wood at Jordan Matthews.

Farnsworth finished third individually in the state and fourth in the East Region TSSAA in 2004. He helped lead The Baylor School to two TSSAA Division II state titles and one runner-up finish as well as three East Region titles. Farnsworth posted a 72.1 stroke average his senior year and was the 2004 Chattanooga Junior Champion. Christopher played for Thad Lepcic and King Oehmig at The Baylor School and is the son of Bob and Linda Farnsworth.

Judy claimed First Team All-State honors four times and won the North Carolina 3-A state title twice and finished third one other time. Judy is a four-year letterwinner and has won both the team's Most Improved Award and Perserverence Award. Jayson played for Ronald Norton at Alamance Christian and is the son of Billy and Sandy Judy.

Wirt was a First Team All-District and all-region honoree in both his junior and senior years. The 2004 Western Valley District Tournament champion, Wirt helped guide Gary Overbay's Patrick Henry team to the AAA state tournament for the first time in eight years in 2004. He claimed the Big Time Junior Classic title in 2003 and finished third in the same tournament in 2004. In the 2004 Heritage Invitational, Wirt finished second individually and helped the team to the team title. Christopher is the son of Barry and Becky Wirt.
