Durham, N.C. -- The Duke men's tennis team, ranked eighth nationally, will kick off the 2004 regular season on Thursday at home versus 41st-ranked William & Mary in the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Blue Devils are coming off last year's 22-6 campaign that included the ACC Championship and the program's 12th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Headlining the returnees for head coach Jay Lapidus' 14th club are senior Phillip King, a three-time All-America pick, and sophomore Ludovic Walter, who is ranked seventh nationally in singles and second in doubles with partner Jason Zimmermann.
Following their match with the Tribe, Duke will remain at home to face ninth-ranked Texas A&M on Saturday (12 noon) and 49th-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday (1 p.m.)
