Duke rowing wraps up fall season at Rivanna Romp on Sunday

DURHAM, NC – The Duke rowing team will wrap up the fall season at the Rivanna Romp Regatta on Sunday in Charlottesville, Va. The regatta, which will be held at the Rivanna Reservoir, will feature 12 schools, including host Virginia.

The Cavaliers welcome in Duke, Central Florida, Clemson, Georgetown, Miami, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin to Sunday’s regatta. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the varsity eight event. The novice eight competition will begin at 10 a.m. and small boat competition is scheduled for 11 a.m.

“The competition is going to be very intense on Sunday,” acknowledged Duke head coach Robyn Horner. “We are very focused on improving our eights performance.”

Duke will send the varsity eight crew of Katie Tobin (coxswain), Michelle Lancto, Lia Hart, Emily Herrington, Emma Darling, Virginia Kane, Emily Rothfield, Laura Fisher and Krista Harryman and the second varsity eight crew of Meg Tobin (coxswain), Iraina Miles, Katrina Weschler, Kate Kearney, Alissa Van Arnam, Alison Sagar, Sara Couch, Janet Bartholdson and Liz Martin to the Romp.

Virginia Kane and Alissa Van Arnam will race in the open pair event while the crews of Emma Darling and Lia Hart, Liz Martin and Sara Couch and Nicole Weathers and Lauren Powell will compete in the double scull event.

The crew of Iraina Miles, Emily Rothfield, Kate Kearney and Michelle Lancto and the crew of Laura Fisher, Alison Sagar, Janet Bartholdson and Krista Harryman will compete in the quads race.

The Blue Devils will return to the water in the spring when they head to the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, March 16-18.
