Raleigh, NC - The NC State Wolfpack hammered Stetson 91-61 in the Hispanic College Fund Classic at the RBC Center. Friday night's game at the RBC Center was the season opener for both teams.
N.C. State shot 72 percent in the first half, hitting 12 straight shots at one point in building a 48-22 halftime lead. N.C. State outrebounded the visitors 19-11 in the first half. The Pack allowed just one field goal in a 12-minute span of the first half and built a 20-point lead by the game's 13th minute.
The Wolfpack outshot the Hatters 56.7 percent to 38.2, out-rebounded them 37-32 and committed 11 turnovers to 19 for Stetson.
Seven players scored eight points or more, led by Ilian Evtimov's 20 points including four 3-pointers and Engin Atsur's 17 including 7-for-9 from the floor with six assists. Gavin Grant chipped in 13 points with nine assists. Four players registered at least three assists.
Sendek went nine-deep in the first half, with freshmen Brandon Costner, Ben McCauley and Courtney Fells all getting quality time. The freshmen rolled up for 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Wolfpack's faces two other opponents in this three-day Hispanic College Fund Classic - today against The Citadel (12-16 last season) and Sunday against Delaware (11-20)
