ACC releases 2004-05 ACC basketball schedule
[Aug. 18, 2004] Greensboro, N.C. - A record-setting 261 television appearances involving Atlantic Coast Conference teams headline the league's 2004-05 basketball schedule as released by Commissioner John Swofford. The schedule also boasts an all-time high 172 televised games involving ACC teams and marks the 10th-straight year that the league has had more than 200 television appearances.

Former point guard to take over as NCSU Director of Basketball Operations
[Aug. 4, 2004] Archie Miller, one of the top three-point shooters in NC State history, has been named the Director of Basketball Operations on Herb Sendek's staff. Miller will replace Kenya Hunter, who left to take a assistant's position under Miller's brother Sean, a former Wolfpack assistant who was recently named the head coach at Xavier.

NC State to host 2008 NCAA 1st/2nd Rounds
[Jul. 8, 2004] NC State Athletic Director Lee Fowler announced today that the NCAA Men's Basketball Selection Committee has chosen NC State to host a 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball First & Second Rounds site. The 2008 Raleigh First & Second Rounds are scheduled for Friday, March 21 and Sunday, March 23 at the RBC Center. By Bill Newton

Deacons earn first Sweet Sixteen berth since 1996
[Mar. 20, 2004] Chris Paul kept Manhattan from pulling off another upset. The freshman point guard had 29 points, eight rebounds and six assists Saturday to lift Wake Forest past the Jaspers 84-80 in the second round of the East Rutherford Regional. Paul went 10-for-14 from the floor and 8-for-9 from the line for the fourth-seeded Demon Deacons (21-9), who made it through the NCAA tournament's opening weekend for the first time in eight years. Wake Forest will face top-seeded Saint Joseph's - a 70-65 winner over Texas Tech - in the third round.

Duke Advances To Sweet 16 With 90-62 Win Over Seton Hall
[Mar. 20, 2004] J.J. Redick's shooting slump is over and Duke is moving on. The Blue Devils guard, cold for much of the past month, scored 21 points Saturday to lead Duke to a 90-62 victory over Seton Hall in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Redick made his first four shots - his first nine if you count his five straight free throws - and wound up 6-for-10, and 7-for-7 from the line. Luol Deng went 6-for-9 for 20 points and Shavlik Randolph went 4-for-5 for eight points. Shelden Williams finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Duke Dominates Alabama State In NCAA Tournament First Round
[Mar. 18, 2004] Shavlik Randolph scored 20 points and Daniel Ewing had 19 more Thursday night to help the top-seeded Blue Devils beat the Hornets 96-61 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Duke (28-5) won its NCAA opener for the eighth straight time and advanced to the second round of the Atlanta Regional, where it will play Seton Hall on Saturday.

Wake Advances To Second Round With 79-78 Win Over VCU
[Mar. 18, 2004] Chris Paul was in complete control in his first NCAA tournament game. The Wake Forest freshman star had 22 points and made several key plays to lead the fourth-seeded Demon Deacons past Virginia Commonwealth 79-78 on Thursday. Wake Forest will face 12th-seeded Manhattan, a 75-60 winner over fifth-seeded Florida, in the second round of the East Rutherford Regional.

All-ACC Teams Announced
[Mar. 8, 2004] UNC's Rashad McCants got 91 of 93 first-team votes by members of the media, one more than N.C. State's Julius Hodge. The swingmen were joined on the first team by three guards, Florida State's Tim Pickett, Duke's Chris Duhon and Wake Forest's Justin Gray.

Believe it! Wolfpack Downs No. 1 Duke, 78-74
[Feb. 15, 2004] Raleigh, N.C. - In one memorable Sunday evening at the RBC Center, No. 21 NC State ended Duke's 18-game winning streak, while also preventing the Blue Devils from running away and hiding in the race for the ACC regular season title. And more than likely, the Wolfpack also pulled the plug on Duke's reign as college basketball's top-ranked team. Marcus Melvin and Julius Hodge scored 18 points apiece, Ilian Evtimov added 15 and Scooter Sherrill 11 as NC State sent 19,722 fans into a frenzy with a 78-74 victory over the Blue Devils. Wolfpack Takes Down No. 11 Georgia Tech, 76-72
[Jan. 24, 2004] Scooter Sherrill scored 18 points and Ilian Evtimov had 11 points and 14 rebounds to lead North Carolina State to a 76-72 victory over No. 11 Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Wolfpack (11-4, 4-1) improved to 10-0 at home and grabbed sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind top-ranked Duke. Will Bynum scored 17 points for Georgia Tech (15-3, 3-2), which lost its eighth straight game at N.C. State.

Pack Bounces Back, Whips Clemson 86-69
[Jan. 18, 2004] Raleigh, N.C.--If there were any doubts about how NC State would respond to the quick turnaround following its lopsided loss at Duke on Thursday night, those questions were put to rest in rather emphatic fashion very quickly in Saturday's match-up with Clemson. After a Sharrod Ford basket gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead, the Wolfpack would never look back after scoring 14 straight points in route to an 86-69 ACC victory. Basketball three-point line and lane to remain the same
[Jan. 14, 2004] The NCAA Executive Committee, meeting at the NCAA Convention, ruled that the three-point line will remain at its current distance (19 feet, 9 inches from the center of the basket to the outside edge of the three-point line), for all three divisions. The free-throw lane also will remain the current width and configuration.
