Duke earns NCAA Tournament top overall seed
[Mar. 13, 2006] The Duke Blue Devils (30-3), fresh off a 78-76 win over Boston College to repeat as ACC Champions, the team's seventh in the last eight seasons, learned they are the top overall seed in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Duke will face SWAC regular season and tournament champion Southern (19-12) in the first round at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. The game will take place at 9:30 p.m. ET Thursday.

NC State to face California Friday in Dallas in NCAA Tournament
[Mar. 13, 2006] When it makes its school-record-tying fifth-straight appearance in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, NC State (21-9) will be facing a familiar first-round foe. California, the team that won an opening-round thriller over the Wolfpack three years ago, will again stand in the Pack's way on Friday in Dallas.Tip-off is set for 6:20 p.m. central time.

NC State earns fifth straight NCAA bid
[Mar. 12, 2006] Herb Sendek has now tied a NC State school record by making his fifth straight trip to the NCAATournament. Sendek and Jim Valvano (1985-89) are the only two coaches who have guided the Pack to five straight tournaments.

Tyler Hansbrough and Roy Williams earn ACC honors
[Mar. 7, 2006] North Carolina forward Tyler Hansbrough is the unanimous selection as the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year and Roy Williams won ACC Coach of the Year honors by an overwhelming margin in balloting released today by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

Dr. James Naismith's 13 original rules of basketball
[Mar. 7, 2006] The original rules of basketball were written by Dr. James Naismith in December, 1891 in Springfield, Massacussetts. These original rules were published in January 1892 in the Springfield College school newspaper, The Triangle.

2006 All-ACC Basketball teams
[Mar. 6, 2006] Duke's J.J. Redick and Shelden Williams, and North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough were unanimous selections to the All-ACC team released Monday by The Associated Press. Redick, Williams and Hansbrough were first-team picks on all 108 votes by members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. They were joined on the first team by Boston College's Craig Smith and Virginia's Sean Singletary.

NC State loses to Boston College in double OT
[Feb. 26, 2006] No. 15 N.C. State’s home season ended Saturday with a 74-72 double overtime loss to No. 11 Boston College before an RBC Center crowd of 19,287.

Georgetown beats Duke, 87-84
[Jan. 21, 2006] The Duke Blue Devils lost to a Georgetown team, 87-84, that shot 61 percent and held Shelden Williams to a season-low four points. Sean Dockery scored two of his 10 points in the first 38 minutes. Georgetown dominated early and a 19-5 run included five layups that gave the Hoyas a 42-28 lead after shooting 67 percent in the first half.

No. 1 Duke defeats No. 14 NC State, 81-68
[Jan. 19, 2006] J.J. Redick scored 28 points and hit all 10 of his free throws, as top-ranked Duke remained unbeaten by using a stifling defense late in the second half to post an 81-68 victory over No. 14 North Carolina State at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

WFU Deacons plays at No. 14 NC State Wolfpack on Saturday
[Jan. 19, 2006] Wake Forest, which got the monkey off its back by winning its first ACC game Wednesday night, attempts to keep its momentum alive when it travels to 14th-ranked NC State on Saturday (4:05 p.m./JP Sports TV). NC State leads the all-time series, 126-94. Wake Forest swept the regular season series last season, but State beat the Deacons in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament.

North Carolina's Touchstone Energy announces two basketball scholarship programs for 2006
[Jan. 8, 2006] North Carolina's Touchstone Energy cooperatives are proud to announce two basketball scholarship programs for 2006. Touchstone Energy Sports Camps Scholarships are being offered to the Kay Yow Basketball Camp for female students in 6-8th grades and to the Roy Williams Basketball Camp for male students in 6-8th grades. The scholarships will send 27 deserving young women to the Kay Yow Basketball Camp at NCSU and 27 deserving young men to the Roy Williams Basketball Camp at the UNC.

Wolfpack returns to Reynolds
[Dec. 8, 2005] The Wolfpack will make its annual return to the “Big Barn” on Saturday when NC State takes on Appalachian State. The venerable Reynolds Coliseum served as the home of the Wolfpack from 1949-99 and was the site of 766 NC State basketball games, three Southern Conference Tournaments, 13 ACC Tournaments, eight NCAA regionals and varous NIT appearances.

NC State beats Stetson, 91-61
[Nov. 19, 2005] The NC State Wolfpack hammered Stetson 91-61 in the Hispanic College Fund Classic at the RBC Center. Friday night's game at the RBC Center was the season opener for both teams.

ACC 2005-06 Basketball Schedule
[Oct. 12, 2005] A record-setting 276 television appearances involving Atlantic Coast Conference teams headline the league's 2005-06 basketball schedule as released by Commissioner John Swofford. The schedule also boastsan all-time high 181 televised games involving ACC teams and marks the second-straight year that the league has had more than 250 television appearances and the 11th-straight year with 200-or-more.
