[Nov. 22, 2006] NC State Director of Athletics Lee Fowler and Head Women's Basketball Coach Kay Yow announced jointly that Yow willbe taking a leave of absence from her coaching duties for an indefinite period of time. Associate head coach Stephanie Glance will serve as interim coach during this period.

Duke's Shelden Williams taken in first round of the NBA draft
[Jun. 29, 2006] Shelden Williams and J.J. Redick were each selected in the first round of Wednesday’s NBA Draft, becoming the 37th and 38th players selected in the draft under head coach Mike Krzyzewski. Williams was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks with the fifth pick in the draft, while Redick was taken 11th overall by the Orlando Magic.

Duke's J.J. Redick taken by Orlando as 11th pick
[Jun. 28, 2006] Duke All-American guard J.J. Redick has been taken by the Orlando Magic with the eleventh overall selection in the 2006 NBA draft Wednesday night. The 6-foot-4 Redick is considered the best shooter in the draft. He set an NCAA record for career 3-pointers made (457) while becoming Duke's all-time scoring leader.

NCSU's Simmons goes to New Orleans as No. 15
[Jun. 28, 2006] The 6-9 Cedric Simmons, who will play power forward/center in the NBA, had a lifelong dream come true when the New Orleans Hornets made him the 15th pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. The Hornets chose Simmons as their first pick in the draft. After averaging 11.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks as a sophomore with the NC State Wolfpack, Simmons announced that he would enter the 2006 NBA draft.

Two join Lowe's coaching staff at NC State
[May 10, 2006] NC State head men's basketball coach Sidney Lowe has named two members to his coaching staff. Larry Harris, who has spent the last decade on the Wolfpack bench, will serve as an assistant coach, while former Wolfpack point guard Quentin Jackson has been named the Director of Basketball Operations

Notes on Duke's 74-61 win over George Washington
[Mar. 18, 2006] Duke defeated George Washington 74-61 Saturday in the NCAA Tournament second round to advance to the Sweet 16 for an NCAA-best ninth consecutive season. Duke will take on the winner of today’s LSU vs. Texas A&M match-up on Thursday, March 23, at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
