North Brunswick defeats Northwood to win 2-A east baseball title

Pittsboro, NC - North Brunswick defeated Northwood 10-5 on Monday night in game three of a best of three series in Pittsboro to secure the 2-A east title for high school baseball. North Brunswick will begin play on Friday against Piedmont High School in the 2-A state championship baseball series.

The Scorpions started off the game with one run in the first inning. In the bottom of the inning Northwood's Ross Cooper hit a two-out home run that gave the Chargers a 3-1 lead.

A pop fly from North Brunswick’s Davon Perkins in the second inning cleared the fence and make it a 3-3 ball game. The Scorpions had seven total runs in the second inning, and led by a score of 8-3.

The Chargers surged in the third, with Dylan Stasko driving in a couple of runs to close the gap, 8-5.

In the seventh, Davon Perkins hit a home run and Kevon Perkins drove in a run to win the game 10 to 5.

This is the second year in a row that Northwood has made it all the way to the Eastern finals of the state 2A baseball playoffs.
