February 6, 2006: Board of Commissioners work session

 

  • Set a public hearing (Feb 20) for a request for exemption of the Educational Impact Fee for a house moving. Approved 5-0

  • Discussed changing the BOC appointments process to allow Commissioners to make appointments as desired for their districts. This will be discussed and hopefully settled at the February 20 BOC meeting.

  • Discussed resolution to address revenue options. This will also be presented for action on February 20.

February 6: BOC-Cooperative Extension Service Luncheon and Annual Report

February 6: BOC—CCCC Board of Trustees Meeting at the CCCC campus in Pittsboro.


February 6, 2006: Board of Commissioners Regular Session Consent Agenda
  • Resolution to add Bradford Place (Fearrington) to the NC System of Secondary Roads

  • Resolution to add Hatfield (Fearrington) to the NC System of Secondary Roads

  • Request to purchase roll-off vehicle for the Waste Management Department

  • Reappointment of Harold Howard as ETJ representative to Pittsboro Planning board

  • Request to approve unpaid tax lien advertisements

  • Request to approve tax releases and refunds

  • Request to approve FY 2005-06 budget amendments

  • Request to approve FY 2005-06 Project Ordinance Amendments

  • Request to accept enhanced Domestic Violence Grant

  • Request to approve Gang Violence Prevention Grants

  • Request to appoint Grimsley Hobbs to the Appearance Commission

  • Request to reduce the Health Department Health Promotion budget by $34,000

  • Request to approve four adoption contracts for Department of Social Services

Public Input Session
  • Walter Harris requested approval to place mail cluster boxes (110) in the Bynum Park area to maintain Bynum mail service, identity and zip code. Bynum General Store will stop housing postal service in March. BOC/Staff are reviewing

  • George Lucier encouraged participation in an upcoming Renewable Power Forum on March 30th.

  • Bob Eby questioned the Public Hearing process changes required by 2005 Legislative actions. Staff is working out our process and we expect to have this settled prior to the March public hearing.

Boards and Committees
  • Commissioner Barnes nominated Andrew Allden to the Recreation Advisory Board. Approved 5-0

  • Commissioner Barnes nominated Becky Barnes to the Child Fatality Prevention Team. Approved 5-0
