In reply to an update request by our Representative, Joe Hackney, Marty Tillman at DOT expects to have all lanes open to traffic by the end of December. They are in the process of placing the final inch of asphalt now. It is expected that the section from Cole Park Plaza to Northwood High School will finish first since there is some median work to complete at the north end of the project.

Once the complete everything, DOT will conduct a final inspection and provide a punch list of items to correct. Depending on the length and severity of this list, they may be working on these items at the end of the year, but DOT expects to have all lanes open to traffic during non-working hours.

I travel 15-501 2-3 times a week and I know I will be delighted to see this project finished! It’s a very tense drive and the Good Lord knows I don’t need any more tension.
