Request from Chapel Hill and Carrboro regarding review of Proposed Chatham Retail Development.
* Chapel Hill and Carrboro have requested that LPA Staff evaluate proposed retail development and compare employment estimates associated with the development with the employment projections used in the development of the 2030 long range transportation plan.
* Analysis results show that employment projections from the development exceed the employment projections used in the 2030 long range transportation plan.
* A resolution asking for review of traffic impact and air quality was unanimously approved.
* I stated my concerns of precedent setting regarding large commercial retail development along our borders -- i.e., does this apply to Orange and Durham Counties or is this just for Chatham? I didn't receive an answer but I'm sure it's just for Chatham!
Transportation note from the Triangle J Council of Governments: the U.S. Transportation Bill that recently passed included:
1. Chapel Hill Park and Ride lot: $1.25 million
2. Completion of the American Tobacco Trail in Durham and Chatham Counties: $1.6 million (this will cover most of our cost as I see it today!)
