* Capital Improvements: we started this discussion and decided to hold up pending some additional information. Well, it just arrived. Seems we can safely borrow a maximum of $65 million based on our budget and maintain anything close to a comfort level. That moratorium discussion and 1% Land Transfer Tax are looking more and more important to me! We will have a special BOC meeting at 9 am March 28th and begin prioritizing county needs.

* Williams Pond Slide Show: Mr. Meggison presented slides depicting the Haw River trails and parks area adjoining the proposed development in preparation for our evening consideration.

* Water Committee Update: Hobbs-Upchurch Engineers discussed water, sewer, and road needs for our commercial/business park. With help from Siler City commissioners, we will proceed with design of phase 1 and permitting. This progress should keep us in line with requirements of Chatham Hospital, the community college, and the Juvenile Detention Facility as our initial occupants. Work should begin by late summer on infrastructure. Passed with a 5-0 vote.

* Will Baker, our Chatham County water department head expressed a need to enlarge our current water plant (East Jordan) capacity. We have an allowance for 6 million gallons per day, with a pumping capacity of 4 million gallons per day and we currently use 2 million gallons per day. Upcoming residential developments and 2 new water districts will bring us to current capacity rather quickly. We must move on this one, and voted 5-0 to proceed.
