Where are the relatively progressive individuals

Pittsboro, NC - Up until the last couple Chatlists I’ve received, I’d considered Pittsboro to be a town populated with relatively progressive individuals. Imagine my surprise to find posts in two, successive Chatlists with, far worse than homophobic overtones, outright and blatant anti-homosexual content.

I’m a parent. I have a 9 month-old. It doesn’t matter if my son is 9 months old or 7 years old. I would be setting a far poorer example for him by judging the lives of others in comparison to my own, than by taking my little boy out for a day at the lake, whether everyone there is a cookie-cutter of me and my family structure or not.

Now. If you’re talking about serious sexual activity (and by “sexual” I am in no way referring to kissing and hand-holding) then the aforementioned couples should do as any decent couple would and keep it in the privacy of a home or personal space. This applies to pretty much the populace as a whole, regardless of sexual preference. I sincerely hope that the “disgust” you are experiencing is a valid reaction to actual indecent exposure as opposed to what may merely be a small exchange of affection by a couple whose lifestyle you believe to be so inferior to your own.

It is a tragedy to me that so many “well-meaning” Christians seem so easily to forget Christ’s words: “Judge not, lest you be judged” Matthew 7:1, and also: “Make every effort to live in peace with all humanity” Hebrews 12:14.
